FAQs

About Your Appointment

  • DO I NEED AN APPOINTMENT AT PURE BRIDAL?

Yes. Pure Bridal is by appointment only. This ensures every bride has a dedicated stylist and the boutique's full attention from the moment she arrives.

  • WHAT APPOINTMENT TYPES DOES PURE BRIDAL OFFER?

Pure Bridal offers four appointment types. The Bridal Appointment is 90 minutes and allows up to 4 guests, with a $50 non-refundable appointment fee applied toward your dress purchase. The Premier Bridal Appointment is 2.5 hours, allows up to 8 guests, and carries a $150 non-refundable fee also applied toward your purchase. Accessories Appointments and Pick Up/Try On appointments are each 30 minutes with a stylist.

  • DO BRIDAL SHOPS DO WALK-INS?

Pure Bridal does not accept walk-ins. Appointments are required to guarantee you a dedicated stylist and uninterrupted time on the floor.

  • WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO MY BRIDAL APPOINTMENT?

Wear or bring nude or light-colored seamless underwear. A strapless bra is helpful but not required — many gowns are designed to be worn without one. Avoid spray tans the day of your appointment.

  • DO I HAVE TO PAY A FEE TO BOOK AN APPOINTMENT AT PURE BRIDAL?

Yes. A non-refundable appointment fee is charged at booking — $50 for a Bridal Appointment and $150 for a Premier Bridal Appointment. Both fees are 100% applied toward your dress purchase at your first appointment.

DRESS SHOPPING & TIMING

  • WHEN SHOULD I START SHOPPING FOR MY WEDDING DRESS?

Start shopping when you are ready to buy and when you can bring the most important people with you. Pure Bridal recommends ordering your gown 9 to 12 months before your wedding date to allow time for production and alterations.

  • HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD A WEDDING DRESS BE BOUGHT?

Most made-to-order gowns require several months of production time, plus 4 to 6 weeks for alterations. Ordering 9 to 12 months out gives you the most options and the least stress.

  • WHAT IF MY WEDDING IS SOONER THAN 9 TO 12 MONTHS AWAY?

You still have options. Pure Bridal carries gowns available off the rack, maintains an in-stock selection, and can check rush production availability through their designers.

  • WHAT IF I LOSE WEIGHT AFTER BUYING MY WEDDING DRESS?

Don't wait on your weight. Even significant size changes can be addressed through alterations. Your dress can be sculpted and fitted to you closer to your wedding date.

  • IS IT BETTER TO BUY A WEDDING DRESS TOO BIG OR TOO SMALL?

It is generally easier and less expensive to take a gown in than to add fabric. Your stylist will help you determine the best size to order based on your measurements and the specific designer's sizing.

  • WHAT IS THE MOST POPULAR WEDDING DRESS STYLE FOR 2026?

Current trends include minimalist crepe silhouettes, statement sleeves, deep V-backs, and textured fabrics like mikado and structured tulle. Your Pure Bridal stylist can walk you through what's trending and what will work best for your venue and body.

PRICING & PAYMENT

  • WHAT IS THE AVERAGE PRICE OF A WEDDING DRESS AT PURE BRIDAL?

Pure Bridal's gowns are priced in the $1,700 to $2,500 range on average, covering hundreds of styles across nine designer collections.

  • IS $2,000 A REASONABLE AMOUNT TO SPEND ON A WEDDING DRESS?

Yes. The national average for a wedding dress falls in this range. Pure Bridal's collection is priced to give brides access to quality designer gowns without requiring a luxury budget.

  • DO I HAVE TO PAY IN FULL WHEN I ORDER MY DRESS?

Most brides choose to pay in full at the time of purchase, but Pure Bridal offers two payment plan options, both requiring at least a 50% deposit to place the order.

  • DO WEDDING DRESSES EVER GO ON SALE?

Pure Bridal periodically has off-the-rack and sample sale options available. Ask about current sale inventory when you book your appointment.

ALTERATIONS

  • DOES PURE BRIDAL DO ALTERATIONS?

Pure Bridal does not have an in-house seamstress, but almost every bride will need alterations. Pure Bridal recommends KN Custom Sewing, located at 1609 Golden Aspen Drive, Suite 103, Ames, Iowa — (515) 233-0303.

  • HOW MUCH DO ALTERATIONS COST FOR A WEDDING DRESS?

Alteration costs vary depending on the complexity of the work needed. Budget a separate amount for alterations in addition to your gown purchase and plan for 4 to 6 weeks of alteration time before your wedding date.

  • DO YOU TIP A WEDDING DRESS SEAMSTRESS?

Tipping is not required but is a thoughtful gesture for exceptional work, especially for complex alterations. A tip of $20 to $50 is common for standard work; more for extensive customization.

FIT, SIZING & PLUS SIZE

  • DOES PURE BRIDAL CARRY PLUS SIZE WEDDING DRESSES?

Yes. Pure Bridal carries hundreds of samples in sizes 18 to 34, making it one of the more inclusive bridal boutiques in Iowa for plus size brides.

  • WHAT SIZE SHOULD I ORDER MY WEDDING DRESS?

Wedding dress sizing runs differently than standard clothing sizes. Your stylist will take your measurements and recommend the best size to order based on your largest measurement, the designer's size chart, and any planned weight changes.

  • CAN A WEDDING DRESS BE ALTERED DOWN MULTIPLE SIZES?

Yes, though there are limits. Taking a gown in one to two sizes is standard. More significant alterations are possible depending on the construction of the dress. Your seamstress can advise based on the specific gown.

BRIDESMAIDS

  • DOES PURE BRIDAL CARRY BRIDESMAID DRESSES?

Yes. Pure Bridal carries a curated selection of bridesmaid dresses in sizes 2 to 28 from three designers. Pure Bridal brides receive a 10% discount on bridesmaids dresses.

  • WHEN SHOULD BRIDESMAIDS ORDER THEIR DRESSES?

Order bridesmaid dresses at least 4 to 6 months before the wedding to allow time for production and any needed alterations.

GUEST POLICY

  • HOW MANY PEOPLE CAN I BRING TO MY APPOINTMENT?

For a standard 90-minute Bridal Appointment, you may bring up to 4 guests. For a Premier Bridal Appointment, you may bring up to 8 guests.

  • CAN MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS HELP PICK DRESSES DURING THE APPOINTMENT?

Guests are asked to remain seated while the stylist works with the bride. Before your appointment you will receive a confirmation email with a link to your personal online portal where guests can preview the collection in advance and suggest styles they would like to see you try.
