Michelle + Brad

The Force is definitely with this beautiful couple who celebrated their wedding earlier this month on May 4th. I love everything about their beautiful wedding, including how they picked their wedding date. Keep reading to hear what Michelle had to say about their wedding!

1. Do you have any sweet or quirky stories about how you and your husband met/ got engaged?

We met on Tinder. He asked me out on a date and I said no (dates are so awkward). He kept asking me out on a date and I finally told him I would go out on a date with him when Star Wars came out in the movie theater. He immediately said “I’m going to marry this girl”. And well…he did just that! True to his word, we got married on May 4 (Star Wars Day).

He proposed on his 30th birthday last year in June at his parent’s farm up by Okoboji, IA. I planned the entire weekend for his 30th birthday and had no idea he had plans of his own!

2. What was your favorite part of planning your wedding?

My mom and I planning everything together, so I would definitely say spending that extra time with my mom made my wedding even more special!

3. How would you describe the “vibe” of your wedding?

The vibe for our wedding was earthy, “boho”-ish, really laid back. Our wedding was centered around family. We wanted all of our friends and family to know how much we appreciate them.

4. Tell us about your favorite parts of your dress shopping experience.

I loved that all my friends and family were more than welcome to come. I never felt like I wasn’t pretty enough or not welcome. I felt comfortable and like my voice was heard. I had a lot of anxiety leading up to dress shopping. I am not a huge dress wearing person. But I really didn’t need to feel any of that. Everything went so smoothly and it was everything I could have ever imagined.

5. How did you find find most of your wedding vendors?

I tried to support local businesses in Ames as much as I could! Beyond that I used Instagram a lot. I used a photographer I had been following on Instagram for awhile before booking her. My jewelry also was found from an Instagram ad. I asked my friends for referrals from their weddings. I utilized my talented friends (Georgie Blair and Kelsey Schwager).

Honestly, I am so thankful I found the vendors I did. Everyone made the day so wonderful and I was able to surround myself with AWESOME people. Kelly at Powder Studio is so fun and talented. Madi at The Jeno Collective is absolutely amazing! Ryan from BCP Entertainment made the entire reception so fun, there were so many people on the dance floor! Courtney at The Gatherings was there for me at all hours of the day/night answering all my random questions!
